{"id":36,"date":"2021-07-19T11:08:30","date_gmt":"2021-07-19T16:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/accounting\/?page_id=36"},"modified":"2022-12-07T14:58:19","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T20:58:19","slug":"internships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/accounting\/student-resources\/internships\/","title":{"rendered":"Internships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro\">Internships provide valuable work experience and connections for future employment and references.<\/p>\n<h2>The Benefits of an Internship<\/h2>\n<p>An internship in Accounting is an excellent tool for laying a foundation to your professional career:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allows you to start building your business network.<\/li>\n<li>Gives you real world experience and confirmation that you have selected the right career.<\/li>\n<li>Looks great on your resum&eacute;.<\/li>\n<li>Exposes you to a potential employer &ndash; we call this the &ldquo;test drive&rdquo; for both you and for them.<\/li>\n<li>Allows you to get feedback in a learning environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to Find an Internship That is Right for You<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/career\/\">BSU&rsquo;s Career Services<\/a> maintains a database of potential internship opportunities. Employers routinely come to campus looking for interns and you can network with others via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/accounting\/student-resources\/accounting-club\/\">Accounting Club.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Internships in Accounting require you to be paid a reasonable wage and that you will be performing tasks typical to a starting staff accountant. Once you have found an internship you complete the Internship Agreement (see link below) and register for the agreed upon number of credits.<\/p>\n<p>You will maintain a weekly log of your activities to be turned in at the end of the internship to the Internship Coordinator.
