{"id":2273,"date":"2023-07-19T15:48:47","date_gmt":"2023-07-19T20:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/business-services\/?page_id=2273"},"modified":"2026-02-19T14:22:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T20:22:31","slug":"withdrawing-dropping","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/business-services\/tuition-fees\/withdrawing-dropping\/","title":{"rendered":"Withdrawing &amp; Dropping"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-139 page type-page status-publish hentry\">\n<h2>Understanding &ldquo;W&rdquo; Grades<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The course remains on your transcript with a &ldquo;W&rdquo; grade, if you withdraw during the withdrawal period.<\/li>\n<li>A &ldquo;W&rdquo; grade does not affect your grade point average (GPA).<\/li>\n<li>The credits for the class for which you have received a &lsquo;W&rsquo; grade will count as attempted credits. Attempted credits are used when calculating your course completion rate, as explained in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/president\/policies\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/79\/2022\/07\/Academic-Progress-Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Academic Progress Policy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Withdrawing from a class will not change your tuition or fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Withdrawing From Some of Your Classes<\/h2>\n<p>Students may withdraw (drop) from a course during the withdrawal period. After this time, no course may be dropped except in special hardship cases. A student wishing to withdraw from a course can do it through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/mybsu\/go\/eservices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">e-Services<i class=\"bsu-external-link fa-solid fa-arrow-up-right-from-square ml-1\" title=\"Opens in new tab\"><\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If registered for a course go to eServices View\/Modify Schedule. Course specific information can be found when you hover over the clock in the &ldquo;Last Date to Drop\/Withdraw&rdquo; column.<\/li>\n<li>If not registered for a course, go to Courses and Registration; Search for a Course; and pull up the course you are inquiring about. Click the course title and you will find additional information under the &ldquo;Add\/Drop\/Withdraw&rdquo; section.<\/li>\n<li>Please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/business-services\/tuition-fees\/\">Tuition &amp; Fees<\/a> for additional withdrawal and refund information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Withdrawing From All of Your Classes<\/h2>\n<p>If you are withdrawing from ALL of your classes it is advised that you complete the following additional steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please contact your faculty advisor or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/advising-success-center\/\">Advising Success Center<\/a> located in Decker Hall 202, (218) 755-2038 <a href=\"mailto:advising@bemidjistate.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">advising@bemidjistate.edu<\/a>, to discuss your situation and options.<\/li>\n<li>If you would like to speak with the Case Manager to review your personal circumstances related to withdrawing and\/or to connect to campus or community resources prior to withdrawing or after withdrawing please contact Samantha Clausen LSW in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/health-counseling\/\">Student Center for Health and Counseling<\/a> (218) 755-2024 to set up a confidential meeting.<\/li>\n<li>If you live in the residence halls and\/or have a meal plan: Contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/reslife\/\">Residential Life Office<\/a> in Walnut Hall, (218) 755-3750, to terminate your Residential Life Contract and receive directions for proper checkout procedures.<\/li>\n<li>If you received any type of financial aid: Contact the Financial Aid Office in Deputy Hall 114, (218) 755-2034 <a href=\"mailto:financialaid@bemidjistate.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">financialaid@bemidjistate.edu<\/a>, to address the following:\n<ol>\n<li>repayment of aid received if you are withdrawing prior to 60% of the term being completed;<\/li>\n<li>discuss your eligibility for future financial aid when you return to school; and<\/li>\n<li>to receive exit student loan information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>To determine if you are eligible for a refund: Contact Business Services, Deputy 202, (218) 755-2046.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th>Days of Semester<\/th>\n<th>Fall Semester<\/th>\n<th>Spring Semester<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Class Days 1-5<\/td>\n<td>100%<\/td>\n<td>100%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Class Days 6-10<\/td>\n<td>75%<\/td>\n<td>75%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Class Days 11-15<\/td>\n<td>50%<\/td>\n<td>50%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Class Days 16-20<\/td>\n<td>25%<\/td>\n<td>25%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Class Days 21+<\/td>\n<td>0%<\/td>\n<td>0%<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><b>Finally, you must withdraw from all your classes in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/mybsu\/go\/eservices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">e-Services<i class=\"bsu-external-link fa-solid fa-arrow-up-right-from-square ml-1\" title=\"Opens in new tab\"><\/i><\/a>.<\/b> If you need assistance, contact the Records &amp; Registration Office, Deputy 101 or call (218) 755-2020.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Understanding &ldquo;W&rdquo; Grades The course remains on your transcript with a &ldquo;W&rdquo; grade, if you withdraw during the withdrawal period.
