Workers&rsquo; compensation is a no-fault, managed care, insurance program directed by the <a href=\"http:\/\/mn.gov\/admin\/government\/risk\/workers-comp\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Minnesota Department of Administration Risk Management Division<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>. For an injury or illness to be covered, the condition must be caused, aggravated or accelerated by work activities or the work environment. You can find out more about the benefits available in the Workers&rsquo; Compensation publication <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/environmental-health-safety\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/89\/2022\/01\/if_you_are_injured_at_work.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&ldquo;If You Are Injured at Work&rdquo;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/human-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Human Resources<\/a> office coordinates the workers&rsquo; compensation program at 91Ì½»¨.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/environmental-health-safety\/workers-compensation\/roles-responsibilities-employee\/\">Employees<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/environmental-health-safety\/workers-compensation\/roles-responsibilities-supervisor\/\">supervisors<\/a> also have roles and responsibilities in the management of work injuries and illnesses and for participation in the workers&rsquo; compensation program. Anyone responsible for directing student employees or Graduate Assistants or any other employees is considered a supervisor for purposes of these reporting requirements.<\/p>\n<h3>Medical Evaluations<\/h3>\n<p>If you are injured or become ill due to your work duties, you must notify your supervisor as soon as possible and receive necessary medical evaluations or treatments according to procedures outlined by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corvel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CorVel<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>. CorVel is a certified managed care program provider contracted by the State to manage medical care and treatments for work-related injuries and illnesses.<\/p>\n<p>You are entitled to receive an initial evaluation form a medical care provider, in Corvel&rsquo;s provider network, within 24 hours of the initial request for medical care. Do not delay in seeking emergency care in order to report and injury or complete forms.<\/li>\n<li>Report injury or illness to supervisor as soon as possible. Report any serious injuries, verbally if necessary, to the Human Resources Office, as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<li>Get medical attention as needed.
