Arts Endorsement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Communication Arts and Literature Endorsement is an optional add-on for Education students. It can be added to any full license and results in licensure to teach Middle School English\/Communication Arts (Grades 5-8).<\/p>\n<p>The credits can be taken in addition to a student&rsquo;s plan of study, spread throughout semesters as their schedule permits pending prerequisites.<\/p>\n<h2>Communication Arts and Literature (English) Endorsement<\/h2>\n<h3>Take all of the following:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>ED 3208 Developmental Reading in the Middle School (3 credits)<br>\n<em>15 hours of field experience outside of class<\/em><br>\n<em>Only offered in the spring (online)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>ED 3417 Teaching and Learning in the Middle School (3 credits)<br>\n<em>Offered only in the fall (online)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>ED 4737 Content Area Reading (3 credits)<br>\n<em>25 hours of field experience outside of class<\/em><br>\n<em>Offered in the fall and spring (online)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>ED 3550 Methods of Teaching English &amp; Communication (4 credits)<br>\n<em>25 hours of field experience outside of class<\/em><br>\n<em>Offered only in the fall<\/em><\/li>\n<li>ENGL 3540 Literature for Young Adults (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>ENGL 2337 American Literature, 1865 to Present (3 credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Choose one of the following:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>ENGL 2357 British Literature to 1800 (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>ENGL 2358 British Literature from 1800 to Present (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>ENGL 2370 World Literature to 1600 (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>ENGL 2375 World Literature from 1600 to Present (3 credits)<br>\n<em>These courses are not offered every semester.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Student Teaching<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>ED 4840 Student Teaching &ndash; Special Fields (5 credits)*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*When combined with Elementary Education (or another full licensure program) you will complete a total of 12 Student Teaching credits.<\/p>\n<p>*If you are already licensed and are adding a Middle School Endorsement, you will complete an 80-hour practicum in place of the student teaching requirement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Communication Arts and Literature Endorsement is an optional add-on for Education students.
