It can be added to any full license and results in licensure to teach Middle School Science (Grades 5-8).<\/p>\n<p>The credits can be taken in addition to a student&rsquo;s plan of study, spread throughout semesters as their schedule permits pending prerequisites.<\/p>\n<h2>Science Endorsement<\/h2>\n<h3>Take One of Each of the Following:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>BIOL 1400 Cellular Principles (4 credits) &ndash; OR &ndash;<br>\nBIOL 1110 Human Biology (4 credits)<br>\n<em>Most sections offered in the fall<\/em><\/li>\n<li>BIOL 1500 Diversity of Life (4 credits) &ndash; OR &ndash;<br>\nBIOL 1120 Gen Biol\/Evol &amp; Ecology (3 credits)<br>\n<em>Most sections offered in the spring<\/em><\/li>\n<li>CHEM 2211 Principles of Chemistry I (4 credits) &ndash; OR &ndash;<br>\nCHEM 1111 General Chemistry I (4 credits)<br>\n<em>Most sections offered in the fall<\/em><\/li>\n<li>CHEM 2212 Principles of Chemistry II (4 credits) &ndash; OR &ndash;<br>\nCHEM 1112 General Chemistry II (4 credits)<br>\n<em>Most sections offered in the spring<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Take All of the Following:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>SCI 3100 Integrative Science For Teachers (4 credits)<br>\n<em>Offered in the fall &ndash; even years only&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>GEOL 1110 Physical Geology (4 credits)<br>\n<em>Usually offered in the fall<\/em><\/li>\n<li>ED 4737 Content Area Reading (3 credits)<br>\n<em>25 hours of field experience outside of class<\/em><br>\n<em>Offered in the fall and spring (online)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>ED 3417 Teaching and Learning in the Middle School (3 credits)<br>\n<em>Offered only in the fall (online)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>ED 3410 Middle School Science Methods (4 credits)<br>\n<em>25 hours of field experience outside of class<br>\nOffered only in the spring<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Student Teaching<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>ED 4840 Student Teaching &ndash; Special Fields (5 credits)*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*When combined with Elementary Education (or another full licensure program) you will complete a total of 12 Student Teaching credits.<\/p>\n<p>*If you are already licensed and are adding a Middle School Endorsement, you will complete an 80-hour practicum in place of the student teaching requirement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Middle Level Science Endorsement is an optional add-on for Education students.
