Don&rsquo;t let the challenge of a difficult course hold you back from reaching your academic goals. TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) offers free tutoring to all TRIO participants for their entire undergraduate college career at BSU. Working with a tutor can help you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stay on track in class and reach your academic goals<\/li>\n<li>Understand the course material and assignments<\/li>\n<li>Improve or maintain your GPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>When to Get a Tutor<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If the class subject has challenged you in the past<\/li>\n<li>If the class subject area is new and challenging to you<\/li>\n<li>As soon as you don&rsquo;t understand course material or assignments<\/li>\n<li>If you don&rsquo;t get the grade you want on the first quiz or exam<\/li>\n<li>To improve or maintain your GPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What Tutoring Offers<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Comfortable, confidential tutoring from a BSU student who has recently done well in the course<\/li>\n<li>Step-by-step help at your pace and level<\/li>\n<li>Increased confidence and reduced anxiety<\/li>\n<li>Up to three hours of help per subject per week when it fits into your schedule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Don&rsquo;t let the challenge of a difficult course hold you back. Reach out to TRIO-SSS and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/triosss\/tutoring\/request-a-trio-tutor\/\">request a tutor<\/a> to help you achieve your academic goals.<\/p>\n<h2>Becoming a Paid Tutor For TRIO-SSS<\/h2>\n<p>Are you an experienced student looking to make some extra money while helping your peers succeed academically? Consider becoming a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/triosss\/tutoring\/apply-to-become-a-trio-tutor\/\">paid tutor for TRIO-SSS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As a tutor for TRIO-SSS, you&rsquo;ll have the opportunity to work one-on-one or in small groups with up to three other students to help them understand course material and improve their grades. The hours are flexible, and we provide training to ensure you have the skills and knowledge needed to be a successful tutor.<\/p>\n<h3>Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a sophomore, junior or senior taking at least 6 credits<\/li>\n<li>Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0<\/li>\n<li>Have received an A or B in the class(es) you are tutoring OR be an education major with a strong background in the subject you are tutoring<\/li>\n<li>Have good oral communication skills, a positive attitude and patience<\/li>\n<li>Be self-motivated and dependable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Time Commitment and Compensation<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Hours vary and work with the student&rsquo;s and tutor&rsquo;s schedules<\/li>\n<li>All tutoring is done in public spaces on the BSU campus<\/li>\n<li>Salary is the standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/mybsu\/finances\/aid\/employment\/\">student worker rate<\/a> ($13.50-$14.50\/hour)<\/li>\n<li>Tutors do NOT need to be work-study eligible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Requesting a Tutor Are you struggling in a class and feeling like you&rsquo;re falling behind?
